The Power of Music

* Bookmark and Share

Hey folks! Just wanted to share that I wrote a new blog post for The Green Room. This time, I explore the idea of music as a powerful resource for stimulating emotional memories. That may sound like a bunch of actor gobbly-gook, but even non-actors experience some kind of emotional recall through music.

Think about those mix tapes you created for your high school boyfriend or girlfriend, or the song you chose for the first dance at your wedding -- chances are, if you put one of those songs on now, you’ll be transported back to that time and get the same physical and emotional sensations that you had back then. It’s absolutely remarkable what the brain can do. And when we actors can tap into the enormous resources that the body provides, it allows us to be more effective storytellers, making the experience for our audiences that much more intimate.

So, check out my article called, “The Power Of Music” and if you enjoyed it, please leave a comment (either here or at that blog.)
