Monkey See, Monkey Do

I’ve been sitting at a Starbucks for the last 2.5 hours, waiting for an appointment I have later in the day. I am sitting by a large glass window and am facing the street, where hundreds of people have walked by. I feel a bit like a monkey being observed through the glass, but the window goes both ways and they are being observed too. We are so completely on display, but at the same time, people in New York are so busy that they barely take a glance. I find it so interesting that the city is packed with people and yet I can still feel independent and voyeuristic.
